The Yankees have had their ups and downs in 2025, some rough patches, and constant online criticism that put a lot of pressure on Boone's decisions and Anthony Volpe's shoulders. Even with all that, accustomed to pressure and unlikely to win the Eastern Conference, the Yankees have had a very successful September that pitted them against tough opponents.

Specifically, September began with the Yankees winning their series against the Astros 2-1 in Houston; they finally got revenge on the Blue Jays in the Bronx; they were thrashed by the Tigers' offense; they went to Fenway and won two games against their archrival, the Red Sox. Despite being shut out in Game 1 by the Twins in Minneapolis, the Yankees took Games 2 and 3, scoring 10 runs in each.

Now the Yankees have a better-than-possible finish to the season, with 10 games remaining against teams at the bottom of their division, four of them against the Orioles and three of them against the White Sox, with the final six games being played at Yankee Stadium.

At odds of -190, the Yankees are emerging as betting favorites to beat the Orioles in Baltimore in the first game of the series at Camden Yards. It couldn't be otherwise, as Max Fried, the MLB leader in wins this year with 17, will be pitching.
