Two pitchers with ERAs under 3.00 in Game 2 face off in the exciting series taking place at Oracle Park between the Giants and the Mets.
The Mets entered this series having won four games in a row amid a fierce duel with the Phillies for the NL East lead. Before arriving in San Francisco, they swept the Angels in Queens in another remarkable bullpen performance, requiring the closer to be brought in to win all three games, and none failed. Díaz saved two games and Stanek another. It was also a series where Pete Alonso hit a key three-run home run in Game 3, snapping a five-game homerless streak.
But left-hander Peterson, who will pitch Game 2 against the Giants, hasn't appeared since pitching very well in his last start on July 20 against the Reds, a game the Mets won 3-2 and Peterson pitched six scoreless innings.
