The Mets and Giants, both with winning records, will face each other for the first time in 2025. The pitching duel that will kick off the weekend series on Friday will be between Logan Webb for the Giants, their ace who has had two poor outings in his last three, and Clay Holmes for the Mets, who is also coming off a beating by the Reds' offense in his last start. This series is being played at Oracle Park, and the Giants will be -145 betting favorites in Game 1.
The Giants took advantage of the injury-related gaps in the Braves' starting rotation to win Games 2 and 3 of the series, scoring nine runs on both Tuesday and Wednesday. This ended a five-game losing streak; on Tuesday, Schmitt hit his fifth home run of the season. But the best came on Wednesday, when Devers hit two home runs. The first was practically golfing the ball, and the second was a 3-run home run in a 9-3 victory.
The Mets also won on Wednesday, completing a sweep of the Angels at Citi Field and adding another four-game winning streak. With this, they moved a half-game ahead of the Phillies, amid a fierce competition between the two teams for the NL East lead.
