WNBA expansion side Portland Fire will look to get their season rolling when they host New York Liberty on Tuesday night at Moda Center. The newcomers have not had the most desirable start to the season, losing 98-83 to Chicago Sky at home on Sunday. They trailed by 17 points in the first half before rallying to tie at 70 with 8 minutes remaining. However, their youngsters couldn’t control the game, with the visitors running riot to take the win.
New York Liberty’s potential, on the other hand, was never in question ahead of the new WNBA season. The 2025 Eastern Conference runners-up have enjoyed the perfect start, defeating the Sun and the Mystics. They managed to outlast the Mystics on Sunday in an overtime win, with Marine Johannes scoring a career-high of 25 points. Breanna Stewart and Pauline Astier contributed 23 and 18 points, respectively. They are evidently in scary form right now.
