The Vancouver Canucks will try to avoid setting a new franchise record for consecutive losses when they face the New York Islanders on Monday night at Rogers Arena.
Vancouver has yet to taste victory in 2026 and finds itself on a 10-game slide. This ties the longest losing streak in franchise history, which occurred twice during the 1997-98 season. Eight of the losses have come in regulation, while the Canucks have been outscored 45-17 during the streak.
On home ice, Vancouver hasn’t won since Dec. 6, dropping seven consecutive games. The team suffered a 6-0 loss at Rogers Arena on Saturday, and another miserable night could follow on Monday against a strong Islanders squad that sits second in the Metropolitan Division.
After beginning the campaign with three consecutive losses, the Islanders have been very consistent with their play, showing grit and determination on a nightly basis. They have lost back-to-back games only once since December and will attempt to avoid a second occasion on Monday night.
The Canucks have won just 16 of their 46 outings this season, but one of those wins was earned on Long Island against the Islanders. Kiefer Sherwood scored a hat trick in a 4-1 triumph, giving Vancouver its third win during a four-game winning streak. Since that run in December, Adam Foote’s men have celebrated just one victory in 13 games.
