The New York Giants will get their 2025-26 season underway in Maryland, where they'll face the Washington Commanders. Kickoff for this NFC East division rivalry is scheduled for 1 pm EST, Sunday, Sept. 7, at Northwest Stadium in Landover, MD.
There is a fair amount of buzz surrounding both teams heading into the season, but for different reasons. Washington is coming off one of the best seasons in years for the franchise after making it to the NFC Championship last year. They found their quarterback of the future in Jayden Daniels and spent the offseason building a better offense around him. Washington had the No. 5 scoring offense last season (28.5 ppg) but gave up 23 ppg on defense. Expectations are just as high for them this season. As for the Giants, HC Brian Daboll could be coaching for his job this season. It's his fourth year with the team, but since leading the team to a 9-7-1 record in his first season and earning Coach of the Year, the Giants have gone backwards. If they were to post a third consecutive losing season, chances are he and his staff will be looking for work at the end of the regular season.

It is not surprising that the Commanders are favored, but betting on this game may be a little tricky. Yes, we know the Commanders' offense is solid, but the Giants were competitive with Washington last season. With Russell Wilson at quarterback, the offense should be much better than it was last year. Good enough to beat the Commanders or keep it close? That's hard to say because we have yet to see Wilson at the helm of the NYG offense. Consequently, there is only one bet to take for this game.
