The New Orleans Saints (2-2 SU, 3-1 ATS) visit the Kansas City Chiefs (4-0 SU, 3-1 ATS) with a chance to see if they’re really for real. New Orleans was seen as the NFC South’s best team after two dominating performances over Carolina and Dallas, but the bloom is now off the rose as reality set in. With the Panthers proving a wreck and the Cowboys middling at best, New Orleans is instead now seen as a middling contender in the division.
And that’s a problem going to Kansas City, although the Chiefs have a bad habit of playing with their food for too long. Kansas City comes in on a 10-game winning streak, having last lost on Christmas 2023 to Las Vegas. Since then, only one of the Chiefs’ past 10 wins — Miami — was decided by more than one possession. Part of that comes from playing good teams — the Chiefs’ streak does include last year’s four playoff wins — but part of it comes from letting teams hang around a bit too long.

New Orleans usually means points, as the only exception was the 15-12 loss to Philadelphia in Week 3. The Chiefs, however, have consistently made themselves into a top defensive unit that never gets the credit because of Patrick Mahomes’ brilliance. Over this 10-game winning streak, only Cincinnati has managed more than 24 points on the Chiefs.
And if the Saints aren’t scoring, they’re probably not winning. New Orleans dominated the first two games because Carolina and Dallas couldn’t play any defense. That is not likely to repeat itself here. The Chiefs know what they’re doing on both sides of the ball, and they excel at doing just enough to earn the cover. Our prediction for New Orleans vs. Kansas City is Chiefs -5.5.
