The New Orleans Saints (2-1 SU, 2-1 ATS) visit the Atlanta Falcons (1-2 SU, 1-2 ATS) in a game that could really have serious ramifications for the NFC South race. The Saints have mostly played well this season, much to the surprise of a fair amount of experts. Atlanta was supposed to be the team that took control of the division, but New Orleans ripped through Carolina and Dallas and flipped the narrative on its head.
However, Atlanta has played a much tougher schedule to this point. The Saints’ best opponent to this point has been the Eagles, a game that New Orleans lost. The Falcons, on the other hand, beat the Eagles while losing to Kansas City and Pittsburgh. With the Steelers and Chiefs both unbeaten, both of those losses are proving better than expected at this point.

Atlanta’s slow start that hasn’t been appears to be more a product of unrealized expectations. The Falcons were seen as one of the favorites in the NFC South, which meant the lines were moved a little too far in their favor than they should have been. Atlanta has failed to cover twice at home, but Kansas City and Pittsburgh have both looked to be among the top teams in the AFC this season.
New Orleans, by contrast, wasn’t highly regarded at the start of the season. That allowed the Saints to sneak up on Dallas, which is proving to be less than expected at the start of the year. As the Saints have shown themselves to be more of a contender than originally expected, the lines on them have moved accordingly. After three weeks, it seems both teams are now in line with their expectations. That puts the value on the home team; our prediction for New Orleans vs. Atlanta is Falcons -2.5
