The Nets had improved defensively, shaking off their dismal start to the NBA season in which they lost 11 of their first 12 games, but last Thursday they reverted to a lackluster defense against the Utah Jazz, losing 123-110 at the Barclays Center.
It was a complete collapse in the fourth quarter for Fernández's men, who described it as a total meltdown after losing the final quarter 20-42, having entered it with a manageable lead. This was Brooklyn's 17th loss of the season. Their record against the spread is now 9-13-0. In that game, Noah Clowney recorded 29 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.
