The women’s flyweight division will be featured on the main card of UFC 324. Thug Rose, aka Rose Namajunas, will look to topple the #2-ranked Natalia Silva when they meet Saturday evening.
Natalia Silva has been a force since joining the UFC in 2022. She has defeated all 7 opponents during her UFC career and recently took down some top names in Jessica Andrade and Alexa Grasso. Her Taekwondo background has served her well as she has been nearly impossible to take down. Her ability to strike in both an efficient and high-volume way has made it difficult for opponents to figure her out.
Rose has had an up-and-down couple of years. After winning the title from Zhang Weili back in 2021 and successfully defending it against her, things began to turn after a loss to Carla Esparza. After losing the title, she lost her very next fight to Manon Fiorot and had many doubting her ability to rise back up the ranks. However, in 2024, she defeated Amanda Ribas and Tracy Cortez and started making folks believe in her again. Erin Blanchfield knocked her back down the rankings by defeating her in the latter part of 2024. Rose did score a good victory last year over Miranda Maverick, but this test against Silva is one that she will need to have her absolute best.
It will be a battle of veteran versus upstart. Rose holds the wisdom and experience, but Silva has youth and a sense that she simply can not be stopped. Only one will come out superior.
