The slumping Vegas Golden Knights hope to end the year on a high against the Nashville Predators on New Year’s Eve at T-Mobile Arena.
After a hot start to December, Bruce Cassidy’s team has won only once in the past six games. On Monday, the Golden Knights lost their second straight home game, falling 5-2 to the Minnesota Wild, who scored the first five goals.
Vegas’ slump has coincided with Jack Eichel’s exit from the lineup, and the team has been without several other key players. William Karlsson is also absent from the attack, while Adin Hill, Shea Theodore, and Alex Pietrangelo have been big defensive losses.
The Predators have recently been without former Golden Knights star Jonathan Marchessault, but his absence hasn’t affected the team too much. On the contrary, Nashville is finishing 2025 in great form, having won four of its last five games. The entire month has gone well for Andrew Brunette’s side, as the Predators have suffered just four defeats in 13 outings.
The first line with Steven Stamkos, Ryan O’Reilly, and Filip Forsberg has been highly successful. Stamkos leads the league with 11 goals this month and is tied with O’Reilly for the most points (16).
