Day 1 of the 2025 French Open already produced exciting matches and dramatic endings, and tennis fans can’t wait to see what Day 2 will have in store for them.
Well, the tennis world will not be disappointed with one of the scheduled matches for this day because it will be the battle between 4-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka and former world’s No.2 Paula Badosa of Spain.
Osaka is slowly but surely showing signs of her former self months after returning from maternity leave last year. The former top cat on the WTA Tour has delivered a clay-court campaign full of promises as she pieced together an 8-game winning run that had her capture a Challenger title at Saint Malo and a round-of-16 stint at the 2025 Italian Open.
Badosa returned to the tour in the final week of the French Open buildup at the 2025 Strasbourg International. After spending weeks rehabilitating her injured back, Badosa hurdled her first assignment when her opponent, Marie Bouskova, retired with the scored tied at 3-3. However, the second match tested her fitness as she ran out of steam against eventual tournament runner-up Liudmila Samsonova 6-4 3-6 6-4.
