Naomi Osaka of Japan will take on Clara Tauson of Denmark on Wednesday for a place in the women’s singles final at the 2025 Canadian Open.

Osaka barged into her first semi-final appearance this year following a surgical win over Elina Svitolina of Ukraine 6-2, 6-2. Osaka continued to punish opponents with her serves, collecting 24 points off the first serves and adding 11 off the second to win all but one service game. She also shattered Svitolina’s serve five times on 24 return points. It was a confidence-boosting win for Osaka, whose last final appearance at a WTA 1000 happened at at the 2019 Miami Open.

Tauson secured her second win over a reigning Grand Slam champion, ousting Madison Keys, the reigning Australian Open champion, 6-1 6-4, in the quarterfinals. The Dane won 78 percent of her first serves and fired 5 aces to hold 100% of her serves against Keys. Tauson, who had eliminated Iga Swiatek 7-6(1) 6-3 in the previous rounds, reached her fourth semifinal on the WTA Tour this year and first WTA 1000 final four appearance since losing to Mirra Andreeva at the 2025 Dubai Open.
