After their 2-2 draw against América, Monterrey saw their six-match unbeaten streak snapped when they lost perhaps the most entertaining game of this tournament, falling 6-2 to Toluca.
The Monterrey team played a splendid first 20 minutes in midfield dominance and playmaking. In an optimal attacking combination, Berterame took advantage of a rebound from the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 in the 10th minute. Monterrey dominated the champions for another 10 minutes until they drew a penalty that Ramos attempted to take, but it became his first penalty miss in a Monterrey shirt, giving it to the goalkeeper who guessed he would send it into the middle.
From that miss on, Toluca grew in every aspect; it was only a matter of time until, amid a flurry of shots, Santiago Mele was unable to stop a shot from Angulo that tied the score. From then on, it was all Toluca's, and although Oliver Torres scored a header, it was of little use, as Paulinho scored a hat trick for the home side, sealing the match 6-2 for Toluca.
But now Monterrey is the favorite on Saturday, as their win against Santos at the BBVA Bancomer Stadium pays -303. Monterrey, the last time they visited the Torreón team, won 4-2 with goals from Berterame, Ramos, Canales, and Arteaga.

Berterame is beginning to shake off his goal-scoring drought that lasted from August 11 to September 9, having netted in two of his last three matches against Querétaro and most recently against Toluca.
Canales, meanwhile, who has consistently scored against Santos Laguna, is enjoying an MVP-worthy season, with highlights like his hat trick against Puebla in the previous match. Only João Pedro of Atlético San Luis surpasses Canales in terms of goals scored this Liga MX season.
