Searching for her first win on grass this year, Mirra Andreeva of Russia faces Clara Tauson of Denmark in the second round of the 2025 Bad Homburg Open on Wednesday.
Andreeva, who earlier this year became the youngest back-to-back WTA 1000 champion after ruling the Dubai Tennis Championship and Indian Wells, stumbled out of the gates as she opened her 2025 grass-court campaign with a loss to Magdalena Frech 6-2 5-7 0-6 in the first round of the 2025 Berlin Ladies Open. The result dealt Andreeva her second straight setbacks, after also falling to wild card Lois Boisson 6(6)-7 3-6 in the quarterfinal of the 2025 French Open.
Meanwhile, Tauson is fresh off a quarterfinal stint at the 2025 Nottingham Open. Denmark’s No.1 women’s singles player bested Kimberly Birrell 7-5 6-2 and Anna Blinkova 6-4 6-4 in the first two rounds before losing to Magda Linette 2-6, 7-5 in the quarterfinal. She advanced to the second round of the Bad Homburg Open with a three-set victory over Frech 6-7(6) 6-3 6-3.
