Two players separated by more than 25 places in the rankings will face each other in this round of 16 match at the Beijing tournament: 26-year-old Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic and 20-year-old Czech Jakub Mensik.
Miomir Kecmanovic could not have had a better start to the 2025 season, winning the Delray Beach tournament against Spain's Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. This was his first success in five seasons and his last title on the clay courts of Kitzbuhel. However, the Serbian has since been much less successful, notably being eliminated in the first round in Washington, Cincinnati, and the US Open, and in the second round in Toronto. His best performance was in Winston-Salem, where he reached the quarterfinals.
Jakub Mensik, seeded number 7, also seems to have been struggling in recent weeks. However, the top 20 player managed to win 100% of his first rounds in Toronto, Cincinnati, and the US Open during the summer. Although he has struggled to confirm his form in the second rounds, the Czech has solid experience, having won the Miami Masters 1000 title against Novak Djokovic in March.
