The surging Seattle Kraken face a big test on Thursday night against the Minnesota Wild at Climate Pledge Arena.
Minnesota has been one of the top teams in the league this season, sitting third with a 25-11-8 record and 58 points. While Seattle has boosted its confidence with an 8-1-0 run over the last couple of weeks, the team has not faced a side of the Wild’s caliber.
The current nine-game run is the Kraken’s second-longest point streak in franchise history. During the 2023-24 campaign, the team went 11-0-2 at one point. This improvement has catapulted Seattle into playoff contention, and the team will be eager to prove its credentials on Thursday night.
The Wild looked nearly unbeatable recently, but their performance levels dropped before the holiday break. The team has won just three of the last eight games, going 3-2-3. As a result, John Hynes’ side is at risk of losing three games in a row for the first time since October.
In this season’s first meeting with the Kraken, Hynes’ men had an easy ride, winning 4-1. Joel Eriksson-Ek was the standout performer in the game, recording one goal and two assists.
