With a shot at becoming the #1 overall seed and division champions in the final game against the Detroit Lions, they fell flat and were defeated 31-9 in a very underwhelming matchup. With that loss, they dropped to the 5th seed and now facing the 4 seed, LA Rams on the road on Monday night. The loss also broke Minnesota's 9-game winning streak. Their opponents, the Rams, also had a winning streak snapped to end their regular season. After winning 5 games in a row, they fell to the Seattle Seahawks, 30-25 at home to finish the season. While on paper, the Vikings hold the edge on both sides of the ball statistically, but you must account for the fact that this Rams team played a majority of the season without all their offensive weapons. Now, with both Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp healthy, Matthew Stafford has his weapons back on the outside and Kyren Williams is seeing less men in the box when he gets his carries. The other thing to keep an eye on, is how well Sam Darnold bounces back from his worst performance of the season. He completed only 44% of his passes for 166 yards and 0 touchdowns, and was sacked twice in the loss to the Lions.

Again, we need to keep in mind that those offensive numbers are due to both Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp missing significant time. The big piece in this game is going to be how the offensive line of the Rams can hold up. Rob Havenstein was really the only concern heading into this game but he has been cleared to play which will help their offensive line. For the Vikings, Sam Darnold and Aaron Jones were limited with quad injury but have been cleared for Monday night. However, linebacker Patrick Jones, will be out with a knee injury. While he has not been a huge factor on the year, he will shorten the depth at the linebacker position for the Vikings in this one.
