After enduring a five-game losing skid that included two defeats to Seattle, Minnesota bounced back with consecutive wins to close out that series and end the slump. The Twins are now tied with Kansas City for third place in the AL Central, just three games back from second, and will look to climb further with a win in the opener.
Detroit, on the other hand, saw its brief two-game win streak snapped by the Athletics but has still won two of its last three. The Tigers sit atop the AL Central with an 8.5-game cushion over the Guardians and hope to stretch their lead further with a strong showing on Friday.
