The Cleveland Guardians will try to pull off a reverse sweep in Thursday’s series finale with the Minnesota Twins at Progressive Field.
The Guardians have scored back-to-back wins over the Twins, thanks to another strong performance from their pitching staff. Cleveland, who is pitching a 4.40 ERA this season, has allowed only three runs in the last two games. Luis Ortiz blanked the Twins in 6.1 innings while closer Emmanuel Clase earned another save after fending off a comeback attempt from Minnesota.
The two consecutive losses have dropped the Twins’ record to five games below .500 at 13-18. Pitching 3.54 ERA, Minnesota has done a solid job on the mound in this series, though their previously explosive offense went silent with only three runs scored between Games 2 and 3.
