The Twins secured their first sweep of the year, beating the Angels at Target Field in all three games. The final game was even better, as their star pitcher completely dominated the Angels. Ryan pitched seven scoreless innings, striking out 11, allowing only four hits, and throwing just one BB.
This will be the first time the Guardians and Twins meet in 2025. They shared dominance in the Central Division in recent years until the recent push that saw the Tigers and Royals join the ranks. Although the Guardians come in with a better record, they didn't have a good weekend against the Red Sox, losing the series to Boston in a 3-13 rout. The pitching suffered an unusual collapse in the fifth inning, allowing five earned runs.
Nolan Jones hit a 3-run homer, which proved to be of little use in an already wide-open game due to a poor outing by Allen and poor defense.
While this was happening, the Twins won the final game of the series 5-0 against the Angels; Correa had his first big offensive afternoon with the Twins in the 2025 season, going 3-for-4.
