The Timberwolves opened their Summer League campaign in the right footing with a 98-91 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. Terrence Shannon Jr. (27th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft) and Leonard Miller (33rd overall in the 2023 NBA Draft) each scored a game-high 20 points, while former lotter pick Rob Dillingham added 15 points. But the player who caught the most attention is 6-foot-11 Joan Beringer (17th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft), who recorded 11 points on 5 for 6 shooting, 8 rebounds and 6 blocks in 23 minutes of action. In his first Summer League game, Beringer looked like a shot-blocking expert in the making for a defensive-oriented team like the Wolves.
The Nuggets suffered an 89-90 heartbreaker to the Milwaukee Bucks in their Las Vegas Summer League debut. Former Ohio State standout E.J. Liddell posted 12-11 double-double in 28 minutes off the bench. Daron Holmes II, the 22nd overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, led the way with 25 points, while Aussie big man Tyrell Harrison recorded 13 points and 8 rebounds in 24 minutes.
