Coming off back-to-back losses to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Milwaukee Brewers will attempt to recapture their winning form as they commence a fresh series with the No.1 team in the AL East, the Toronto Blue Jays, on Friday at Rogers Centre.

Milwaukee is missing several key players in its batting corps, including shortstop Joey Ortiz (10-day IL due to a hamstring injury), Rhys Hoskins (10-day IL due to a thumb injury), and Jackson Chourio (10-day IL due to a hamstring injury). The Brewers still hold the top spot in the NL Central with an 83-52 record, 6.5 games ahead of the 76-58 Chicago Cubs.

The Blue Jays won their series against the Minnesota Twins after squeaking out a 9-8 win in Wednesday’s series finale. Toronto’s offense continues to be dynamic this week, averaging 6.7 runs per game on a .294 batting average over its last five games. On the negative side, the Blue Jays have surrendered an average of 2.0 home runs per game in the stretch, bumping up their ERA to 4.50.
