The Miami Dolphins (6-7 SU, 5-8 ATS) visit the Houston Texans with an outside shot to sneak their way back into the playoff race. Miami has played much better ever since Tua Tagovailoa returned to action, at least on one side of the football. The Dolphins have now won four of their past five games, a far cry from the team that could barely find the end zone in September.
But are the Dolphins really a good team, or have they just been beating up on bad ones? The past three wins have come against Las Vegas, New England and the New York Jets, three of the weakest teams in the AFC. Other than beating the Los Angeles Rams on a long week, the Dolphins haven’t beaten a team with more than three wins all season.

The Texans haven’t really been playing well over the past two months. They’ve only beaten Indianapolis, Jacksonville and Dallas in that stretch, and the Colts are the only one of those three who are even close to the playoffs. But they’ve been solid on defense, and they tend to play to the level of their competition.
Houston has been a frustrating team to pick, because the Texans have a high ceiling and a high floor. The Texans have shown the talent to beat the Bills and play with the Packers and Lions, but they’ve also managed to lose to both the Jets and the Titans. At their best, they should be able to handle the Dolphins, but there’s no guarantee they’re going to be at their best.
