Mexico take on Honduras in Santa Clara on Wednesday evening, with a place in the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup final the prize for the winner. Mexico will go into the contest as heavy favorites following their comfortable 2-0 victory over Saudi Arabia in the quarter finals, but Honduras have shown superb resilience in the tournament so far, bouncing back from a 6-0 defeat in their opening game to make the semi finals for the first time in 12 years.
The two teams last met in November 2024, when Mexico romped to a comfortable 4-0 victory. However, Honduras came out on top by two goals to nil when the teams faced each other four days prior ot that. Overall, Mexico hold a 30-10 lead in the head-to-head between the sides, including victories in their last four Gold Cup matchups.

Mexico - Honduras: Form Analysis
Mexico have enjoyed a comfortable passage through the Gold Cup so far, registering three wins and a draw from their four games. They opened the tournament by scoring three goals in nine minutes en route to a 3-2 success over El Salvador, before easing past Suriname 2-0 to book their place in the last eight. They completed the group stage with a drab 0-0 draw against Costa Rica, but they returned to something close to their best to defeat Saudi Arabia 2-0 in the quarter finals.
Honduras doing it the hard way
Honduras's path to the semi finals has been anything but comfortable. They were humiliated 6-0 by Canada in the opening game, but kept their hopes alive by defeating El Salvador 2-0 in their second game. That set up a winner-takes-all final group game against Curacao, which the Hondurans won thanks to a 91st minute goal from Luis Palma. They then had to battle back from 1-0 down against Panama in their quarter final, before eventually prevailing 5-4 in a dramatic penalty shootout.

Mexico got through Saturday's quarter final against Saudi Arabia without picking up any fresh injuries, but they are likely to make one change to their starting lineup.
