The new Ligue 1 season kicks off! Olympique de Marseille and RC Strasbourg are the first to take the field. They’ll face off this Friday at the Stade Vélodrome. It’s been an eventful summer for the Marseille club, which needs to sell players. They've already let several players go after failing to qualify for the Champions League last season. And it may not be over yet… Still, the team is showing ambition under Bruno Genesio. After a promising preseason, they hope to get off to the best possible start this weekend.
RC Strasbourg has also lost many key players during the summer transfer window. Mike Penders, Abdoul Ouattara, Valentin Barco, Julio Enciso, Diego Moreira, and Emmanuel Emegha have all left. The team is now coached by Hugo Oliveira, the former coach of Famalicao. The Alsatian club hasn’t exactly shone in its friendly matches. That’s why it’s hard to imagine them getting a result on this road trip to the south of France.
