Marcus McGhee (10-2-0) was set to fight Jakub Wiklacz this Saturday, but like 3 other fighters, Wiklacz withdrew due to injury before the fight. John Yannis (10-4-0) has stepped in for Wiklacz and now gets an opportunity against a strong fighter in McGhee.
Yannis has just 2 fights under his belt in the UFC. He was submitted in the first round by Austin Bashi in his debut, but picked up a KO/TKO victory over Jamie Siraj in his next fight this past April. The 31-year-old southpaw fighter had never seen a fight end in the 1st round before entering the UFC, so cardio should not be an issue for him if this one actually does surpass the 1st round with McGhee.
Marcus McGhee is coming off a unanimous loss to Petr Yan. In the loss, McGhee was able to win a round and held his own against the current bantamweight champion. The loss was the 1st he suffered in the UFC and just his 2nd overall in his career. Now he has to face a new opponent on short notice, but is still a large favorite in the bout.
McGhee is still set up to pick up the win in this fight, but a late change in opponent never allows for a simple change in approach, especially when the new fighter is southpaw when you have been training for an orthodox opponent.

Our Marcus Mcghee vs John Yannis Prediction
Marcus McGhee’s last fight against a southpaw was in November of 2024 when he fought Jonathan Martinez. In that fight, in which he had a camp to prep for the style, he went the distance and scored a unanimous victory. Now, Yannis is not at Martinezis level, but McGhee has also not had a full camp to train against the southpaw stance. We expect that to trip him up a bit early and allow this fight to go deep into the 3rd round.
