This Sunday in the Premier League, there’s a race for what looks like will be third place, as Manchester United and Liverpool go head-to-head in the final four games of the season.
United have been scoring lots on home soil lately, as well as being triumphant over Liverpool in the reverse meeting. So, looking into a Red Devils goalscorer seems a smart move, and the early market isn’t considering Bryan Mbeumo enough.
Manchester United are at their best in these games; they’re very good on the break, whilst Liverpool aren’t too adept at defending on the break. Also, United score a big chunk of their goals from set pieces, which may be a struggle for a Liverpool side that cannot defend well in such situations, conceding most of their away goals from set pieces.
Mbuemo gets into excellent positions on the break and from set pieces; he was unable to get a shot off, but he broke on the counter a couple of times in their home game on Monday evening.

Manchester United - Liverpool: Form Analysis
Aside from a small blip, losing out to Leeds, Manchester United have been almost flawless in their recent games at Old Trafford, winning all of their other six most recent home games with multiple goals.
During this time, they have faced Aston Villa and Manchester City, winning each by a two goal margin. Talking of big games, United have also beaten Chelsea and Brighton, whilst narrowly missing points against Arsenal, all on home soil. They may have been defeated in some surprising fixtures this season, but Carrick’s squad seem to thrive in games like this.

Liverpool are arriving here with three needed back-to-back wins in the league, but their away form isn’t looking as convincing, losing four out of their last five in all competitions. In contrast to the home side, Liverpool haven’t been totally confident in the big games, losing four out of five on the road, tying the other, against the top seven. Plus, let’s not forget that United won the reverse fixture.

Manchester United & Liverpool Squad Analysis
Missing out on their last game, it’s looking like Matheus Cunha may be absent once again with a groin injury, which is disappointing for the home crowd, but his absence gave Diallo another call up, where he ended up creating the most goal attempts, so another start should be on the cards for the Ivorian.
Typically very active when facing the big-boys, Mbeumo will be looking to get back into form, like Sesko did with a goal on Monday evening. Left-back Luke Shaw left the pitch injured last time out, while there’s no change in de Ligt’s long injury.

Not only is main goalkeeper Alisson injured, but so is their second choice keeper, meaning third-choice Woodman will be in for his fourth appearance of the whole season. A huge blow for The Reds is the possible absence of the much-loved Salah, who went off injured last time out, joining Ekitike on the subs bench. Consequently, Isak has returned to Slot’s starting lineup in his last three, and has proven himself with a goal last time out.

Our Manchester United vs Liverpool Prediction
Whilst Mbeumo hasn’t been in the healthiest form in their last couple of games, he tends to show up in big games and thrives in United’s approach against the EPL giants. Three out of his last four goals have come against the top-ranked teams. He’ll aim to use this game to get back into form for the last pivotal games of the season.
Likewise, in nine starts against the top six, home and away, the Cameroon international has scored five goals, being the hosts’ most influential player in games like this, joint with Cunha, who is looking to be injured for this game. However, he’s the best in home games alone, scoring three goals in five games, where he hasn’t created less than two shots in each.
Our Manchester United vs Liverpool Pick: Bryan Mbeumo to Score.
