Amanda Anisimova of the United States will lock horns with Magdalena Frech of Poland in the battle for a quarterfinal spot at the 2025 Berlin Ladies Open on Friday.
Anisimova overcame a feisty challenge from former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu of Canada 6-4 6-3 on Tuesday. Frech pulled off a 2-6 7-5 6-0 upset over Russian teen sensation Mirra Andreeva to reach the second round in Berlin. The Pole frustrated her Russian counterpart by forcing her to commit a bunch of unforced errors and tagging her with several winners en route to a stunning win over one of the tournament’s favorites.
