Magda Linette of Poland will lock horns with Anna Kalinskaya of Russia in an interesting second-round clash at the 2025 Mubadala Citi Open on Wednesday at Washington D.C.
Linette advanced to the second round of this WTA 500 event after pulling off a 7-5 6-4 win over Danielle Rose Collins of the United States. The Pole outslugged Collins by winning 29 points off the first serves and converting five of seven breakpoint chances. With the victory, Linette halted her losing streak to three games and earned a shot at progressing into the round-of-16 with another win on Wednesday.
Kalinskaya also punched her ticket to the next round with a convincing win over compatriot Kamila Rakhimova 6-2 6-3 on Tuesday. With her service game clicking, Kalinskaya captured 77 percent of her first serves and landed three aces to win all except one of her service games. The result gave Kalinskaya only her second win on hard court this year, though enough to send her to the second round of this tournament.
