An All-American battle is about to erupt in Rome on Saturday as Madison Keys squares it off with an in-form Peyton Stearns in the third round of the 2025 Italian Open.
Keys moved on to the third round of the Italian Open after dusting off Varvara Gracheva of France 7-6(4) 6-1 on Thursday. The reigning Australian Open champion is trying to follow up her quarterfinal finish in Madrid with another deep campaign here in Rome, which serves as the last big tournament before the hostilities at Roland Garros.
Stearns, meanwhile, captured her fifth win in six matches with an exquisite 6-2 6-3 win over Anna Kalinskaya of Russia. The American conceded only one service break the entire match, winning 76 percent of her first serves on top of earning 4 breakpoint conversions. Stearns has a chance to equal his fourth-round finish in Madid if she can pull off an upset against Keys this Saturday.
