Reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys will face Laura Siegemund of Germany in Wednesday's second round of the 2025 National Bank Open.
Keys will be playing her first match since finishing in the third round of the 2025 Wimbledon Open. After a so-so clay and grass courts campaign, Keys returns to the hard court, where she has compiled a 19-3 record in 2025 and captured her first Grand Slam title at the 2025 Australian Open in January.
On Monday, Siegemund moved on to the second round after outlasting compatriot Tatjana Maria of Germany 7-5 6-7(6) 7-6(2). Siegemund, who bested Nao Hibino of Japan in the qualifying match, landed 80 percent of her first serves while seizing 8 of the 15 breakpoints scored in the match. After reaching the quarterfinal of the 2025 Wimbledon Open, Siegemund is eyeing another deep run in the first premier tournament in the North American hard-court season.
