The New York Jets (4-10 SU, 5-9 ATS) host the Los Angeles Rams (8-6 SU, 7-7 ATS) in a game that holds meaning for one side only. On paper, the Rams are in prime position to win the NFC West and secure the No. 4 seed in the playoffs as a division champion. On the field, however, things are far more dicey. The Rams still have to face rematches with both the Cardinals and the Seahawks to end the season, and while both games are at home, Los Angeles already got pasted by Arizona back in Week 2. With the Cardinals getting the weak Panthers and the fading 49ers to end the season, the Rams have no room for error if they lose to Arizona again.
The Jets have absolutely nothing to play for. New York is out of the running for the playoffs, and the Jets’ best players probably won’t be on the roster next year. It’s far more in New York’s best interest to go out and lay down for the Rams, given that they’d be much better off with a last-place schedule than a third-place one. It’s unknown which division the Jets would draw from the NFC next year for their extra game, but if it’s the North, finishing last instead of third would mean facing Chicago and Las Vegas next season, instead of Green Bay and the Chargers.

The Jets’ brass should have realized by now that former coach Robert Saleh was not the problem. This was a bad roster on one side of the football, kept competitive by Saleh’s strong defense. Once he departed, the Jets’ defense completely fell apart. They’ve turned in one good showing against inconsistent Houston (how the Texans won the South despite losing to Tennessee and the Jets remains a mystery), but they’ve been playing poorly for the most part.
The Rams should be able to exploit that. Los Angeles managed to outscore Buffalo and has hit the over in three of its past five games. The Rams’ offense isn’t the most consistent there is, but it has done the job more often than not this season. The Jets’ strength on defense has been their pass defense, but that’s been falling apart as of late. Things should be a little better with Sauce Gardner on the field, but he was there last week and the Jets still allowed 25 to Jacksonville. Our prediction for Los Angeles vs. New York is Over 46.
