The Los Angeles Dodgers seek their fifth straight win on Saturday as they duke it out again with the Texas Rangers in Game 2 at Globe Life Field.
The Dodgers (15-6) are 4-1 in their last five games, and have won their last four assignments to stay within a half game of the NL West San Diego Padres (15-5). Yoshinobu Yamamoto has emerged as an early CY Young Award favorite after pitching 0.93 ERA with 38 strikeouts in his first 5 starts. In the series-opener against the Rangers, Yamamoto tormented the home team with seven scoreless innings on top of 10 strikeouts in the Dodgers’ 3-0 win.
The Rangers (12-8) remain No.1 in the AL West despite the Game 1 loss to the Dodgers. Although their offense is a work in progress, Texas still boasts one of the best ERA in baseball at 3.41 and 1.08 WHIP. The Rangers hope they can get quality pitching again from their projected starter Nathan Eovaldi on Saturday.
