They may have lost eight of their last 10 games, but especially losing the last three of Series 4 against the Yankees has complicated the Rays' chances of reaching the Wild Card spot. For now, the Rays begin a new series against the Dodgers in a repeat of the 2020 World Series. The pressure on the Dodgers to maintain their lead in the Western Division is absolute, given that they are a team severely depleted by injuries and their closest rival, the Padres, added five valuable pieces before the trade deadline.
The first game at George Steinbrenner Field will have the Dodgers as -130 betting favorites; they will go with Clayton Kershaw. The veteran has a 4-2 record this year in 59.2 IP, where he posted a 3.62 ERA. However, in July, he didn't win and only increased his ERA.
