Game 1 of the thrilling Phillies-Dodgers playoff series was a reaffirmation of issues that have occurred in previous postseasons: The Phillies can't assert their home field at Citizens Bank Park, while the Dodgers are challenged by unlikely October heroes like Kike Hernandez.
Up until the fifth inning of Game 1 of the series, the Phillies were leading 3-0. Christopher Sanchez was having a phenomenal start, striking out Ohtani twice without swinging. The Phillies' lead came via an RBI triple by Realmuto. Ohtani started for the Dodgers, meaning the Japanese star had little impact on the victory, but he struck out nine.
Then came the terrible sixth and seventh innings for the Phillies. For the Dodgers, two players reached base off Christopher Sanchez. Then, Kike Hernandez hit a two-run double and changed the mood of the game. In the next inning, Teoscar Hernández fully extended his arms. He was waiting for the fastball because it seems the runner on second told him what pitch was coming. Teoscar scored a 5-3 in favor of Los Angeles.
