The Boston Red Sox will lock horns with the LA Dodgers in a three-game series starting on Friday at Fenway Park.
The Red Sox avoided a series sweep by the Phillies after squeaking out a 9-8 win in extra innings of Wednesday’s series finale. After scoring a total of three runs in the first two games, Boston’s offense produced nine runs in Game 3, highlighted by a grand slam from Roman Gonzalez and a clutch two-run homer by Carlos Narvaez in the 11th inning. The Red Sox are third in the AL East with a 55-49 record, 6.5 games behind the 61-42 Toronto Blue Jays.
The Dodgers took two wins out of three games in their series against the Minnesota Twins to improve their record to 60-43, still the No.1 team in the NL West. Over the last five games, Los Angeles has averaged an impressive 5.8 runs per game on a .238 BA but only posted a 4.60 ERA.
