The Los Angeles Chargers will have their playoff fate in their hands on Saturday when they travel to Massachusetts to take on the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. ET, and the game will be broadcast on the NFL Network.
At 9-6 and the No. 6 seed, if the playoffs started this week, the Chargers can secure a spot simply with a win over the Patriots. The Colts, Dolphins, and Bengals are 7-8 and need either the Chargers and/or the Broncos to lose both of their remaining games. Los Angeles is the favorite in this game (4 to 4.5 points), but the Patriots are not a team to underestimate. For the season, the Chargers have been the better overall offense (passing and scoring), while the Patriots have had the stronger run game. However, the difference between them in each category isn’t significant. But if you look at how they’ve been playing lately, New England has the advantage.
The Chargers have struggled to run the ball the last three weeks (81 ypg), 210 yards in the passing game, and 22.7 points per game. New England, on the other hand, has done a better job in the passing and running game.

The Chargers are coming off arguably one of their better games of the season last week, where they made some adjustments at halftime and scored touchdowns on three straight drives to take over the game. Drake Maye gets better every time he plays, but he has come close to his second win but fallen short—and it probably will not happen this week unless Justin Herbert has an off day (don’t count on it).
New England might keep this one close in the first half, but Herbert will take over in the second and put some distance between them on the scoreboard.
