Representing the women’s strawweight division on the main card of UFC Fight Night this weekend will be Loopy Godinez and Ketlen Souza.
Loopy is putting her #11 ranking on the line here against the unranked Souza. She comes into this fight after losing to Tatiana Suarez back in April. She was submitted in the 2nd round there, and the loss made it 3 in her last 5. Granted, Loopy has been facing top-level competition. Her other 2 losses came to the current champion, Mackenzie Dern, and contender Virna Jandiroba. It will be interesting to see how she comes out here in the 1st round against an unranked opponent who is likely going to be fired up for this opportunity.
Ketlen Souza comes from a boxing background and is fresh off a 1st round KO win over Ariane Carnelossi. That made 9 wins via KO/TKO in her career. But her time in the UFC has been an up-and-down ride to this point. Karine Silva submitted her in her UFC debut back in 2023, and after picking up back-to-back wins, she quickly dropped her next 2 fights. However, this is a great opportunity for Souza to prove that she belongs in the conversation for a ranking in the division.
