After conceding the first set in a tiebreaker, Gauff stepped up her play in the next frame, where she began to find success against reigning Australian Open champion. Gauff kept her intensity high the rest of the way, as she eventually overpowered the disheartened Keys in the deciding set. Gauff landed only 58 percent of her first serves and committed 10 double faults. Despite these lapses, the American recorded 39 first-serve points and 9 breakpoints that allowed her to get back into the match.
