There are plenty of big games on the fourth matchday of the Champions League group stage. On Tuesday at 3 p.m. Eastern, we will be treated to a highly anticipated clash between Liverpool and Real Madrid at Anfield. These are the two most successful clubs in the history of the Champions League and are among the favorites to win this year's competition. After a very difficult run in the Premier League, with four consecutive defeats, the Mersey club has finally managed to get back on track. The Reds have just beaten Aston Villa (2-0) and are now in the top four of the English league. It's the best way to boost confidence ahead of this Champions League clash.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, have been unstoppable since the start of the season. With 10 wins in 11 La Liga games, the Madrid club are comfortably sitting at the top of the Spanish league. Los Merengues have also made a flying start to this season's Champions League. Led by a Kylian Mbappé who is more prolific than ever, Xabi Alonso's men have won their first three games in the Champions League group stage. They have no intention of taking their foot off the gas for this trip to Anfield. They will do everything they can to get a great result and consolidate their place in the top eight.

Liverpool - Real Madrid: Form Analysis
It hasn't been the dream start to the season for Liverpool. Beaten in the Community Shield by Crystal Palace, they also bowed out early in the Carabao Cup, again to the Eagles. Although the Reds got off to a flying start in the Premier League, with five wins in their first five games, they soon hit a much tougher patch. They then suffered four consecutive defeats in the league, allowing Arsenal to pull away at the top of the table.
Last weekend, Arne Slot's team managed to bounce back in the Premier League with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa. In this edition of the Champions League, the English side has secured two wins against Atlético Madrid (3-2) and Eintracht Frankfurt (1-5). However, they were also defeated by Galatasaray (1-0).
Real Madrid has yet to drop a single point in the Champions League.
Real Madrid has been very convincing since the start of the season! Admittedly, it suffered a major setback in the derby against Atlético Madrid in La Liga (5-2). However, this was its only misstep in the first half of the season. Los Merengues won their 10 other league games, including a victory in El Clásico against FC Barcelona (2-1).
Xabi Alonso's men are proving equally convincing in the Champions League. They have yet to drop a single point in the early stages of the competition, following victories over Marseille (2-1), Kairat Almaty (0-5), and Juventus (1-0). Real Madrid will certainly not be taking their foot off the gas for this trip to Anfield. A great result would allow them to consolidate their place in the top eight at the end of the first half of the season.

Liverpool & Real Madrid Squad Analysis
In recent weeks, Liverpool has not been spared from physical setbacks. Alisson Becker, Jeremie Frimpong, Giovanni Leoni, Stefan Bajcetic, Curtis Jones, and Alexander Isak are unavailable for this Champions League clash. However, the Reds still have other quality players at their disposal. They can rely on an excellent central defensive pairing of Ibrahima Konaté and Virgil van Dijk.
In midfield, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister are proving to be extremely important. And what about the Reds' attack? Mohamed Salah has recently regained his confidence, scoring in his last two games with his team. Hugo Ekitike, who was signed last summer, is enjoying a successful start to his career in England. In addition to his three goals in the Premier League, he opened his account in the Champions League against his former club, Eintracht Frankfurt.
Kylian Mbappé has been scoring goals left and right in the first half of the season.
As for Real Madrid, Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rüdiger, and David Alaba are out for this match at Anfield. However, Xabi Alonso still has plenty of stars in his squad. The Spanish coach can count on one of the best goalkeepers in the world in Thibaut Courtois. In front of him, Dean Huijsen has quickly won over the fans since arriving in Madrid last summer. The same goes for Alvaro Carreras at left-back!
After taking a while to get off the mark, Jude Bellingham is now well on his way. He has scored in the Merengue's last three games. And what can we say about Kylian Mbappé's first half of the season? The French striker has already scored 18 goals in all competitions, including five in the Champions League.

Our Liverpool vs Real Madrid Prediction
Real Madrid have been in fine form since the start of the season. They have won 10 of their first 11 La Liga games and have yet to drop a single point in this season's Champions League. Los Merengues have no intention of taking their foot off the gas for this trip to Liverpool. The Reds are going through a very difficult period. They may have just beaten Aston Villa in the Premier League (2-0), but they have lost six of their last eight games in all competitions. It's hard to imagine the Mersey club putting in a convincing performance against the Madrid side.
