The French Cup final between RC Lens and OGC Nice will take place this Friday at the Stade de France in Paris. These are two teams that have had very different seasons. The Lens club’s season has already been a resounding success! Long in the running for the title alongside PSG, the team from northern France ultimately had to settle for second place in Ligue 1. They are therefore guaranteed a spot in the next edition of the Champions League. Pierre Sage’s men now aim to cap off their season in the best possible way by securing victory in the Coupe de France!
It’s a completely different story for OGC Nice. The team from the French Riviera is in danger as the season winds down. Admittedly, they have the chance to win a trophy and secure a spot in European competition this weekend. However, Claude Puel’s team will then have to play in a relegation playoff to stay in Ligue 1, after finishing 16th in the French league. It will be difficult for the Côte d’Azur club to focus entirely on this French Cup final...

Lens - Nice: Form Analysis
Just a few days after wrapping up the league season with a convincing 4-0 win on the road against OL, RC Lens has the chance to end its season on a high note. Fans in Artois must already be smiling, following their club’s second-place finish in Ligue 1. Lens even battled PSG for the French league title for a long time, but ultimately fell short in the final stretch.
There’s no reason for them to be disappointed, as they’ll be returning to the Champions League next season. Furthermore, they now have the chance to win the first Coupe de France in their history. Having knocked out teams like Lyon and Toulouse FC, the squad coached by Pierre Sage remains the clear favorite in this final.
Following this French Cup final, OGC Nice will face AS Saint-Étienne in a relegation playoff to stay in Ligue 1.
For OGC Nice, this is an extremely challenging task. After being eliminated in the group stage of the Europa League, the Riviera club found itself fighting to avoid relegation from Ligue 1. In fact, they are not safe yet. Far from it! Having failed to win in their final eight matches, they finished in 16th place in the French league.
It will now have to face AS Saint-Étienne in a relegation playoff to avoid dropping to Ligue 2. But before that, Claude Puel’s men have a Coupe de France final to play. While they did manage to knock out FC Nantes, FC Lorient, and RC Strasbourg in the national cup, things could get very tough this weekend...

Lens & Nice Squad Analysis
RC Lens will have to make do without several players for this Coupe de France final. Régis Gurtner, Jonathan Gradit, and Samson Baidoo are out. Kyllian Antonio, who was forced off with an injury on the final day of Ligue 1, remains doubtful. Otherwise, Pierre Sage has plenty of options. He was able to rest many of his key players last week for the end of the league season. Voted best goalkeeper of the season at the UNFP Awards, Robin Risser will return to goal for Lens.
He’ll be able to count on the support of the excellent Ismaëlo Ganiou and Malang Sarr in front of him. At left wingback, Matthieu Udol is having a standout season. The same goes for Mamadou Sangaré and Adrien Thomasson in midfield. Up front, Florian Thauvin will be the center of attention. He once again stood out on the final day of Ligue 1, with 1 goal and 1 assist against Lyon.
RC Lens was able to rest most of its key players on the final matchday of Ligue 1.
As for OGC Nice, Mohamed Abdelmonem, Moïse Bombito, and Everton are unavailable. Nice's key players will need to step up to pull off an upset in this French Cup final. Dante will be a key figure in the three-man defense as he plays one of his final matches with the Riviera club. In midfield, Morgan Sanson is almost certain to start.
On the right wing, Jonathan Clauss hopes to shine against his former team. Claude Puel also has some offensive talent at his disposal. In addition to Sofiane Diop, he can count on Elye Wahi. Signed during the last winter transfer window, he has been a great asset to the Gym. He has also played a major role in his team’s impressive run in this French Cup, as he was the one who scored both of his team’s goals in the semifinals on RC Strasbourg’s home turf.

Our Lens vs Nice Prediction
OGC Nice is not in the best of shape heading into this Coupe de France final. After this match, they have a relegation playoff against AS Saint-Étienne to secure their place in Ligue 1. This could give RC Lens some ideas. The clear favorite in this matchup, the Lens side was able to rest its key players during the last league match. It seems to have everything it needs to live up to its status this Friday night and end the season on a high note.
