New York Liberty (17-6) versus LA Sparks (10-14) is an inter-conference matchup on Saturday night at Barclays Center. The Liberty have managed to overcome their recent struggles to go on a five-game winning streak. Sandy Brondello’s side defeated the Mercury 89-76 in their most recent assignment to reclaim the second spot in the league and solidify their top position in the Conference. The Liberty will now train their sights on trimming the 3.5-game gap with the Lynx.
Los Angeles Sparks, meanwhile, are struggling to keep up with the pace in the Western Conference. Although they’ve already surpassed last season’s 8-32 record, they are sixth in the Conference, 11 games behind the Lynx. On the brighter side, the Sparks have enjoyed excellent results lately, winning their last four matches against the Sun and the Mystics. Lynne Roberts will be eager to see her side get a statement win on Saturday, although the odds look quite long.
