Kyler Phillips (12-4) has had his ups and downs while in the UFC. After beginning 6-1 after joining the UFC in 2020, he has cooled off and lost back-to-back fights against Rob Font and Vinicius Oliveira. While he has not had success lately, he has continued to be a tough fight and has never been finished in his career.
His opponent, Charles Jourdain (17-8-1) is coming into this bout after winning his last two fights. He submitted both Victor Henry and Davey Grant with a guillotine choke. That choke has been his favorite weapon over his career, but it may get him in a bit of trouble here with Phillips.
If Jourdain tries to chase a submission in this one, Phillips is the type of fighter who will make him pay for any slip-up. Phillips has a 75% take down defense in his career and will certainly be tested by Jourdain in this fight. However, if he can continue to stifle his attempts and keep this one on its feet. Phillips will be able to have the advantage.
