The Tennessee Volunteers will host the Kent State Golden Flashes Saturday night at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, TN, with kickoff scheduled for 7:45 pm ET (on the SEC Network). It will be the first-ever meeting between the football programs of these two schools. Tennessee, the No. 7 team in the country and a legitimate CFP contender is a massive favorite over this winless team from MAC. This will be the last nonconference game for the Vols who kick off SEC play next week against Oklahoma. So, if there is anything they feel the need to work on our polish before the games start to matter more, they should address it Saturday night.
Kent State is not your average, everyday, run-of-the-mill winless team-- they are worse. The Golden Flashes will enter the game Saturday on an 11-game losing streak after losing to an FCS team last weekend, the St. Francis Red Flash. Their last win came against a different FCS team, Central Connecticut. The last time they defeated an FBS opponent was in their 2022 regular-season finale, a 30-27 OT victory against Buffalo.
Kent State's last win over a team from one of the Power conferences came in 2015 when it defeated UMass 15-10.

The Vols should be ashamed for even scheduling this travesty. It would not be shocking if the score were 49-0 at the half. It is doubtful the Golden Flashes will score in garbage time (a common concern with spreads of this size). While the spread is huge (-49), the Vols will have no problem covering the spread.
