Kennedy Nzechukwu (14-6-0) will face Shamil Gasiev (14-3-0) in the UFC Heavyweight division on Saturday night at Golden 1 Center. Nzechukwu saw his two-fight winning run end when he lost to Valter Walker via submission in July last year. He failed to shake off the loss when he lost to Marcus Buchecha in December via decision. The “African Savage” could’ve won the fight but was deducted a point due to eye pokes. He’s the exciting +105 underdog this weekend.
Shamil Gasiev, meanwhile, is the -145 betting favorite to clinch victory on Saturday. Like his opponent, the Bahraini fighter will also be keen to bounce back to winning ways after losing the last two fights. He looked physically and defensively sloppy in both matches, losing via KO punches. The heavyweight knockout artist also tried to wrestle but was ultimately let down by his lack of cardio. He’ll want to prove himself against the inconsistent Nzechukwu this weekend.

We expect a very close matchup between two fighters who will be eager to bounce back to winning ways. However, we don’t see this fight going the distance with one of the fighters getting a KO/TKO win. In our opinion, Nzechukwu has an edge due to his 5-inch reach advantage, which could prove decisive in a close contest. The Nigerian is also good at managing the distance while quickly firing counter punches. In addition, he has more gas in the tank than Gasiev, which should take him closer to victory if the fight enters Round 2 or 3. Overall, we’re backing Nzechukwu to win via KO if Gasiev doesn’t get an early finish.
