The Kansas City Royals will step into the field Monday night, gunning for their fifth win in six games against the No.1 team in the AL West, the Seattle Mariners. Meanwhile, the Mariners came out on top of the series with the Oakland Athletics after they won the series finale, 8-4. Seattle has hit .245/.315/.413 with 31 runs over the last six games. Royals RHP Brady Singer (3-1, 2.36 ERA with 46 strikeouts) will take on Mariners RHP George Kirby (3-3, 4.15 ERA with 45 strikeouts). Singer pitched 5.1 innings in a 6-4 win over the Milwaukee Brewers last May 8, giving up one earned runs and two walks with four strikeouts. Kirby seeks to bounce back from a disappoint stint on the mound against the Minnesota Twins on May 8. He conceded four earned runs, including three homers in a 6-3 loss.
