The Kansas City Royals will kick off a three-game weekend series against the Detroit Tigers today. He’s pitched well on the road this season, going 1-1 in six starts (nine appearances) and posting a 2.36 ERA and .161 OBA. In three starts since being acquired by the Royals, Bergert is 0-1 in three starts with a 2.70 ERA. As for the Tigers, Detroit is set to give the ball to Casey Mize to start the day. I’m a little concerned that the Royals hitters who have faced Mize have hit .393 against him (35-89, three home runs); Bergert has not faced the Tigers. Otherwise, I see two teams with solid pitchers on the mound that are solid and should hold their own. Neither team has been hitting poorly of late. But they haven’t been killing the ball either. Both teams have been averaging right around five runs per game, but I don’t think either will score more than four.
