Another of Friday's matches at the ATP event in Bastad, Sweden, also known as the Nordea Open, is an all Dutch affair. Jesper De Jong takes on Tallon Griekspoor. Now, if we look at the rankings, we may assume that this would be tough for De Jong, who is ranked considerably lower than his opponent. However, it is De Jong who has so far created the better impression at this tournament, which it was De Jong who came out on top when the pair met in France earlier in 2025. The 25-year-old has shown that he can hold his own on clay against some very good players, beating the likes of Davidovich Fokina and Joao Fonseca in recent times.
For Tallon Griekspoor, this is a bit of a banana-skin match. The early market expects him to win, but I suspect that's mainly based on rankings rather than recent form. The world number 29, who exited this tournament in the first round last year, didn't exactly flourish against a player ranked 139th in the world during the last round, dropping a set and needing a tie-break to avoid a straight-set defeat. Can he improve here? I'm not sure.
