Day 1 of the 2025 Wimbledon Open already offers a number of explosive matches, but none more electrifying than the first-round clash between Mallorca Championship winner Tallon Griekspoor and Eastbourne Open runner-up Jenson Brooksby on Monday.
Griekspoor earned his third ATP Tour title by beating Corentin Moutet in a hotly-contested final in Mallorca 7–5, 7–6(7–3). Griekspoor, who improved his grass-court slate to 26-12, won all four grass-court matches ahead of the Wimbledon Open. He eliminated Ethan Quinn 7-5 6-4, Gabriel Diallo 6-4 6-4, Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4 6-4 before edging Moutet in a thrilling finale.
Brooksby pulled off another surprising run, this time on the grass courts of Eastbourne, where he racked up four consecutive wins in the main draw to reach the championship match as a lucky loser. Brooksby ousted Francisco Comesana 7-6(6) 6-4, Nuno Borges 6-4 6-4, Daniel Evans 6-2 6-3 and Ugo Humbert 6-7(7) 6-4 6-4 before yielding to four-time champion Taylor Fritz 5-7, 1-6 in the final.
